Let Dick & Sue Help You To Experience The Highest Level Of Joy Imaginable When You
Too Embrace A Maine Coon

After 25 years in the workforce both Sue and I retired and moved to Rangewood near Townsville , Queensland . Sue was a breeder of Siamese and Orientals in the 1970s, due to career commitments the breeding program was put on hold in 1984. When Sue and I met and eventually married we embarked on a lifestyle that involved animals, at one stage having two cats, three dogs, four horses , a camel and a number of birds.

In 1998 we joined Waratah National Cat Alliance showing an Ocicat and a Somali. It was at a Waratah Show that we first saw the Maine Coon, it was love at first sight and in 2002 we purchased our first beautiful baby “ Bosun “ a red silver alter male. In 2003 we registered the Wyecoon cattery. Today we have one stud boy and three breeding girls along with four alter boys who have the run of the house.

What Is A Maine Coon?

The Maine Coon originated in the United States, in Maine. It is thought to have arisen from crosses between Angoras brought from the middle East by sailors, English cats brought by the first colonists and short haired American cats. The harsh climate of Maine produced this large, hardy cat that may be considered the first American feline breed. The Maine Coon was first shown in Boston and New York in 1861.

The Maine Coon is one of the largest domestic breeds often called the “Gentle Giant”, they are well balanced, non-aggressive , affectionate and are attached to their owners. They have a quiet voice and are well suited to family life getting on with children and other pets. The Semi-long hair coat is easy to maintain.
